Kentucky’s agriculture commissioner has announced he’s running for governor in next year’s election.
Ryan Quarles is in his second term and is the second state leader to announce a bid for the top state office. State Auditor Mike Harmon already announced he’s seeking the governor’s office, too.
Incumbent Andy Beshear, a Democrat, has announced he’s running for reelection.
A poll released this past week showed Beshear has the highest approval rating of any Democratic governor in the country.
