Trigg pursuit ends in Christian County with arrest

A vehicle pursuit that began Wednesday night in Cadiz ended in Christian County with the arrest of the driver on multiple charges.

A Kentucky State Police trooper stopped 43-year old Detaveon Day of Cadiz after he allegedly disregarded a stop sign at East Noel Avenue and Amber Lane in Cadiz at about 9:30 p.m.

An arrest citation says a computer check showed Day was wanted on three warrants out of Illinois and that he drove away when asked to step out of his vehicle.

Day allegedly reached speeds of over 100 mph on US 68 as he headed into Christian County and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Hopkinsville police assisted in the pursuit as spike strips were used to bring him to a stop near the 5 mile-marker of the Pennyrile Parkway.

Day fled on foot, but was soon captured by Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Martin Lopez near the La Quinta Inn.

He was arrested by KSP and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, several traffic violations and on the Illinois warrants.
