The two women running as Republicans to for the GOP nomination for Christian County Clerk once again met in debate Wednesday.
At a forum hosted by the Christian County Republican Party and Christian County Young Republicans, Melinda Humphries and Erica Newby explained their qualifications, experience and drive to head up the Clerk’s Office.
They both discussed changes they would like to see come to the office, with Humphries saying she would like to see competitive wages for deputy clerks to help with recruitment and retention.
Newby says she would like to see their services be modernized to more quickly and efficiently serve the public.
Newby says she will be present at the office each day to help with daily workings there and she would like to see a secondary office opened in Oak Grove if possible, saying she wants to see real changes from the past two decades. Humphries says she would be a County Clerk that would be accessible, transparent and motivated, focused on customer service and responsibility.
Each candidate agreed that an up-to-date website that could act as a go-to resource where people could find out more about what items are required when entering the clerk’s office would be a great asset.
