Traffic stop leads to arrest on drug trafficking charges

A traffic stop Monday night on South Main Street in Hopkinsville led to the arrest of the driver on drug trafficking charges.

Officers stopped 19-year old Christopher Walton of Hopkinsville for having a headlight out and the arrest citation says he couldn’t provide proof of insurance.

A police K9 alerted on the vehicle and police say a search turned up synthetic drugs, a large baggy of marijuana, digital scales and rolling papers.

Walton was arrested and charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs, trafficking in marijuana, driving with one headlight and failure to maintain insurance.
