Bark For Life takes over Dog Park for a good cause

The Hopkinsville Dog Park saw the return of Bark For Life Saturday morning as people and their furry companions filled the park in the name of a good cause.

There were contests, food trucks, dogs in costume and dogs enjoying the dog park as their families raised money to support Relay for Life, and Relay Chair Crystal Hightower says it was a great turnout where all the money raised will go to benefit cancer research and care.

The event raised roughly $700 and there were 40 dogs registered to take part, while they are their owners both got the chance to take home prizes and awards.

She says the main event, Relay For Life, will take place in September, but you don’t have to wait until then to donate—you can donate or get involved by giving her a call, or going online.

There were several animal adoption agencies on hand, with a couple of dogs finding a new forever home on Saturday. Many of the dogs at the event were sporting new American Cancer Society bandannas, showing that it takes all types to help support and love those battling cancer.
