Fourth graders learn about nature at Jeffers Bend on Earth Day

Fifty-two fourth-graders from Indian Hills Elementary School were at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center Friday morning for Earth Day, as local leaders also looked forward to Drinking Water Week next month.

Charles Turner with the Jeffers Bend Steering Committee says the youngsters learned all about nature and the environment around us.

Meanwhle, Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch, Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble, PADD Executive Director Jason Vincent and Pennyrile R C & D Chairman Wallace Slinker helped proclaim May 9-14 as Drinking Water Week in the Pennyrile Region.

That week will culminate May 14 with the Water Festival from 1 until 5 p.m. at Jeffers Bend, which will be free to attend.
