Unemployment fell in seven of nine Pennyrile counties from February to March and it remained stagnant in Christian County.
Christian County’s March jobless rate was 4.7 percent, the same as February and down from 6.1 percent one year ago. It equated to 1,199 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County was tied for the third-lowest jobless rate in Kentucky at 3.1 percent, up from an even 3 percent in February and down from 3.9 percent in March of last year.
The unemployment rate in Trigg County was 4.4 percent last month, down from 4.5 percent in February and from 5.6 percent 12 months ago.
Muhlenberg County still has the region’s highest jobless rate at 5.8 percent.
The state number was 4.2 percent and the national average was 3.8 percent.
