Schools raise $47k for Rotary Auction

Local schools have done their part and the 72nd WHOP Rotary Radio Auction continues to do very well halfway through the week.

Eighty-six items sold for about $10,700 Wednesday night, the diner and sweet shop brought in about $5,700 and the Hour and Goat Club collected almost $56,000. With three nights left to go, the auction has raised $273,896—about $136,000 ahead of last year’s pace.

Auction Chair Andrew Wilson thanked the local schools for their fundraising efforts, noting they brought in a combined $47,000.

Cash donations of $179 or more to the Hour Club is considered the lifeblood of the auction and Wilson says you can call those in or donate on the Hopkinsville Rotary website this week to get them included in the auction total.

The auction resumes tonight at 6 on Lite Rock 98.7, online at lite987whop.com, on the Hopkinsville Rotary website and Facebook page and Spectrum Cable Channel 376.
