The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from Christian County’s two District Court judges at Thursdays meeting, where they got to learn a little more about the ins and outs of the court process.
Judge Lindsey Adams and Judge Foster Cotthoff both say they greatly enjoy their jobs for a variety of reasons, not limited to being able to help those who truly need it and serve the community in a meaningful way. Judge Cotthoff says 90 percent of all cases in the county start in District Court, though they may not all end there.
Both judges hold numerous types of court as well, from traffic court to criminal, from insurance to small claims to juvenile proceedings. Judge Adams says juvenile court can be a difficult task that involves many people and parties.
Ultimately, both judges say it’s their job to make sure everyone gets their due diligence in court and get the judgements and respect they deserve.
Both Judge Adams and Judge Cotthoff are running unopposed in this year’s elections.
