Hopkinsville City Council heard the monthly financial report at Tuesday’s meeting.
Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin says February was an excellent month for payroll tax collection and while March wasn’t quite as strong, its still a roughly five percent increase compared to this time last year.
He says that it’s still looking like the budget will experience a shortfall, but he’s hopeful that the amount will be less than projected by the time the fiscal year comes to a close.
Council approved a municipal order declaring a vehicle that was being used by the Administration Department as surplus, due to the cost of repairs exceeding its current value.
The Hopkinsville Fire Department had three new fire fighters sworn in at the meeting—Parker Cibene, Daniel Wadley and Cliff Hoy.
