Four Republicans running for Christian Co. Judge Executive meet in debate

Despite the stormy weather during the event, the four Republicans running to be Christian County Judge Executive met in debate at a League of Women Voters forum Wednesday afternoon.

Each candidate gave a layout of what their top priorities and goals would be if elected, with Tommy McGraw saying his focus would be on encouraging growth in Christian County—of the workforce, of housing and of the population.

Katie Moyer says fiscal responsibility is her top priority, and says she will hold Fiscal Court accountable to the tax payers if elected.

Jerry Gilliam says economic development is of utmost importance, and that could mean readjusting what economic development really means to attract more businesses.

Dan Mason says transparency will be a priority for him, starting with an updated website where the public could view the budget, along with county boards and committees.

The candidates fielded a plethora of questions and debates, including about severe weather preparedness, public safety, broadband internet access, taxes, agency funding and more.

The four candidates will square off in the primary election, and whoever wins that will go on to face incumbent Democrat Judge-Executive Steve Tribble in the November general election.
