Storms are in the forecast for Monday and Wednesday and severe weather will be possible—especially in the mid-week event.
There is a slight risk for severe weather in far western Kentucky Monday, extending from far western Trigg County to the Ohio River and a marginal risk for the remainder of the area. Derrick Snyder with the National Weather Service in Paducah says any storms that become severe Monday afternoon and evening will be most likely to produce large hail and gusty winds.
The flash flooding risk Monday will be most prominent toward the Paducah area of western Kentucky.
The Storm Prediction Center already has all of western Kentucky and much of middle Tennessee under an enhanced risk on Wednesday and Snyder says all forms of severe weather—including tornadoes—look to be possible with that storm system.
Snyder says it’s a good time now to be sure you and your family know where you will go if a tornado warning is issued and to be sure you have more than one way to receive warnings. Stay tuned to the WHOP Family of Stations this week for any potential severe weather watches or warnings.
