Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes will be possible Wednesday as a cold front moves across western Kentucky and middle Tennessee.
Mike York with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during the weekly conference call that while there’s a marginal to slight risk for severe storms this afternoon and evening in western Kentucky, it isn’t expected to be a major event.
The Storm Prediction Center already has the region under an enhanced risk for severe weather Wednesday afternoon and evening and York says the ingredients should be in place for a potential significant outbreak of storms that could include damaging winds and destructive tornadoes.
He says now is the time for families to think about where they will go and what they will do in the event of a tornado warning.
Heavy rain will be possible this week and while there could be standing water in the usual places, major flooding is not expected at this time.
