Reds,, Cardinals and Cubs win on Opening Day

The Cincinnati Reds beat the reigning world champion Atlanta Braves 6-3 on Opening Day at Truist Park. Brandon Drury went two-for-three with a three-run home run to give Cincinnati a five-run lead in the sixth. Tyler Mahle gave up one unearned run over five innings to earn the win. Tony Santillan pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. Game two of the series is tonight with pregame at 5:50 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

The St. Louis Cardinals cruised to a 9-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Adam Wainwright earned the victory after striking out six over six scoreless innings. Nolan Arenado, Tyler O’Neill, and Tommy Edman all hit home runs for the Redbirds. The series continues tomorrow at Busch Stadium.

The Chicago Cubs are flying the W after Nico Hoerner homered as they edged the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks allowed just one run over five and a third innings in a no decision. Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-2 with two walks in his big league debut for the Cubs. The four-game series continues today.
