Updated: Pedestrian killed in accident on US 79 near Guthrie

A man was killed in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident early Wednesday morning on US 79 near Guthrie in Todd County.

It happened sometime around 1 a.m. and the driver who struck the victim did not stop.

Todd County Coroner Timothy Wells says the Hispanic male has not been identified and his body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for autopsy. Kentucky State Police believe the victim was between 30 to 40 years old and say he was not carrying any type of identifying information.

KSP asks that anyone missing a family member or friend in the Guthrie or Tiny Town region to call Post 2 at 1-800-222-5555.

State police say the collision may have been fog-related and it’s possible the driver of the automobile thought they had struck a deer. Anyone with information on the driver should also call KSP Post 2.

Guthrie police and the Todd County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
