Masters chairman Fred Ridley said today that three time winner Phil Mickelson chose not to play in this year’s event that begins tomorrow. Ridley said Mickelson was invited to play, but chose in late February not to accept the invitation. Mickelson has not played on the PGA Tour since late January when he missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open.
