Kentucky’s two-year budget plan is heading to Governor Beshear’s desk.
The GOP bill includes pay raises for state employees and funding for all-day kindergarten.
Democrats objected to the lack of funding for universal pre-K. They also complained about not having enough time to review the budget before a vote.
The GOP budget passed out of the Senate unanimously on Wednesday afternoon.
Hours later, all but three lawmakers voted to pass the budget in the House.
Representative Jason Petrie of Elkton, who represents Todd, Logan and a portion of Christian County, says there is historic spending for education in the spending plan.
Locally, there is an increase in funding for the Murray State Breathitt Veterinary Center and $300,000 for repairs at the Jefferson Davis State Historic Site in Fairview.
