Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe was named the National Player of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Tuesday. He is the first UK player and the first Southeastern Conference player to win this award. Tshiebwe not only averaged a double-double but did so with a considerable margin — averaging a team-best 17.4 points and a nation-leading 15.1 rebounds per game. In addition to winning the NABC award Tuesday, Tshiebwe was named the Pete Newell Big Man of the Year also from the NABC.
