The threat for severe weather continues Wednesday afternoon and evening and Christian County Public Schools are dismissing early.
An email from the district says due to the potential of high straight-line winds, elementary students will be dismissed at noon. Middle school and high school students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. All after school activities are canceled and there will be no afternoon preschool or aftercare.
Hopkins County Schools are dismissing at 1:30 and all after school activities are canceled.
Western Kentucky and middle Tennessee are under an enhanced risk for severe weather, with damaging winds and a few tornadoes the primary threats. The National Weather Service in Paducah says storms will be most likely in the southern Pennyrile region between 6 and 9 p.m.
A Wind Advisory is also in effect until 7 p.m., with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 55 mph possible.
