Trial date set in Sharpe Street murder case

A trial date has been set for December in the case against Mory Burse, the man accused of fatally shooting Devon Kendrick in July of 2021.

The trial is expected to last approximately a week, and public defender Rick Sanborn requested they set a trial date Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court, with Judge Andrew Self setting it to start on December 5.

Sanborn informed the court he does intend to file a motion for bond modification.

A pretrial hearing was set for October 19.

Burse is alleged to have used a 9 mm handgun to shoot the 48-year-old Kendrick multiple times in the torso and arms just before midnight July 28 at a location behind the East Ninth Street Dollar General on Sharpe Street.
