Gusty winds are expected and severe weather will be possible as a cold front approaches the region Wednesday.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of western Kentucky and middle Tennessee under an enhanced risk for severe weather. Strong storms will be most likely in the southern Pennyrile region during the mid-afternoon to early evening hours, according to National Weather Service in Paducah Meteorologist David Humphrey, who says damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be the primary threat.
A Wind Advisory has been issued from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday for our entire listening area, with Warning Coordination Meteorologist Christine Wielgos saying there will be sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph from the south and gusts as high as 55 mph.
About an inch of rain is expected to fall across most of western Kentucky and flooding is not thought to be a major concern.
