The Christian County Literacy Council is hosting a ceremony to honor the winners of their bell hooks memorial writing contest this Thursday.
The ceremony will be at the Alhambra Theatre starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Amanda Huff with the Literacy Council says they had several adults and students participate in the writing contest, all in honor of Gloria Jean Watkins—bell hooks.
The doors open at 5:30 and Huff says it’ll be a night of celebration and remembrance.
Executive Director France Gilmer says bell hooks was a staunch supporter of literacy at all ages, and they thought this would be a great way of celebrating her life and legacy.
