Hopkinsville police are investigating a pair of shootings from Thursday afternoon and an arrest has been made in the second incident.
The first happened about 5:15 p.m. at Pembroke Road and the Bypass and the second about an hour later in the area of East 18th and South Virginia Street.
The victim from the first incident went to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the hand and leg and a second person in the vehicle sustained facial injuries from broken glass.
A victim from the second shooting arrived at the hospital while officers were investigating the first.
The East 18th Street shooting happened when two men were fighting and one pulled a gun and shot the other in the abdominal area, according to Hopkinsville Police, who say that victim was treated at Jennie Stuart and then flown to a Nashville hospital in critical condition.
Investigation into that shooting led to the arrest of 25-year old Jonathan Amerson of Hopkinsville for first-degree assault, tampering with evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
An arrest warrant says Amerson hid the handgun in a friend’s apartment and that multiple witnesses identified him as the shooter.
HPD has determined the two shootings are unrelated.
Names of the victims have not been released.
