The 12th Annual International Festival is coming up this weekend and while it will be virtual, it’s still an occasion for local residents to become more familiar with the diverse cultures represented in Hopkinsville and surrounding communities.
Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman says they hope this will be the only event held virtually this year, but some of the participants still didn’t feel comfortable getting together for a big in-person event.
He says the performances will be streamed live on the Hopkinsville International Festival Facebook page beginning at 5 p.m. Friday evening and resuming Saturday morning.
Some of the performers will also make stops at local schools where students will be able to see them in-person.
There will be readings of children’s stories in at least 17 different languages during the event—with that part of the festival organized by the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library and local Imagination Library.
