Magistrates approve Ruff Park, roadway measures

Christian Fiscal Court approved measures that will make changes to the layout of Ruff Park and approved bids for the construction of Mike Foster Way at Tuesday’s meeting.

The reconstruction efforts at Ruff Park are due to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet preparing to widen North Drive from West Seventh Street to Sanderson Drive, which Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says has been in the works for many years. The cabinet needs about half an acre into the land of Ruff Park, and magistrates voted to allow that, with Tribble saying it will move some signage and stones.

He says the cabinet will also take the time to create a sidewalk in that area, which he believes is a fair trade that people can use for both recreation and safety.

In other action, a bid was approved a bid from Scott and Ritter to start construction on Mike Foster Way, located near the Bruce Convention Center, with Magistrate Darrell Gustafson saying the total project will cost roughly $388,982.

In a positive Christian County Animal Shelter report, Director Irene Grace says they adopted out more animals in the month of February than they took in.

Fiscal Court was presented with a check from the Christian County Conservation District in the amount of $7,500 to help fund the deadstock removal program.
