Heavy rain possible Tuesday, no major flooding expected

Heavy rain is in the forecast for Tuesday and Tuesday night, which could cause some minor flooding issues in the usual places.

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Christine Wielgos with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during a conference call Monday morning that the southern Pennyrile region can expect an inch and a half to three inches of rain and while standing water is possible in low-lying and poor drainage areas, major flooding is not expected.

Rain will continue through at least part of Wednesday morning and temperatures will cool until lows Saturday night will dip into the mid-30’s.

Wielgos says next week is looking to have about normal temperatures and above average precipitation.

There is currently no severe weather in the forecast this week.
