A three-vehicle crash on East Ninth Street sent a local woman to the hospital for treatment Friday afternoon.
According to the collision report, all three vehicles were heading eastbound when the vehicle driven by 71-year-old Virginia Cox of Hopkinsville reportedly hit her brakes unexpectedly and the two drivers behind her were unable to avoid a collision, with each rear-ending the other. Cox told officers she had slowed down due to the vehicle her front of her indicating they were going to turn, and that’s when she was rear-ended.
The drivers of the other two vehicles, 42-year-old Mark Howell of Hopkinsville and 17-year-old Andrew Wilson, were not injured in the crash, but Cox was taken to Jennie Stuart for chest pains.
