CCPS at all time lows for COVID-19 cases, School Board hears positive report

The Christian County School Board heard a very positive COVID-19 update at Thursday’s meeting, and approved invoices related to the high school consolidation project.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel says the district is in a great place right now where it comes to the pandemic—well enough that they’re fully planning to have an unrestricted school year, with traditional graduations, proms and other school events, which he says everyone is more than ready for after two years of complications.

The best news was the zeros across the board on the CCPS COVID-19 Data Dashboard—zero active student cases, zero active staff and teacher cases and zero close contact quarantines at this time. Bentzel says he can’t remember the last time he saw zeros on that board, if ever since early 2020.

The test-to-stay program continues to remain available by appointment, as does the Virtual Learning Academy for those who are quite ready to dive back into a standard school year.

The board approved an invoice in the amount of $505,147 from Hafer Architects in relation to the high school consolidation project—also approved was a BG-5 closeout form for the Hopkinsville Middle School Roof coating project, which reportedly came approximately $5,000 under budget.
