Todd Fiscal Court approves sale of land for proposed senior living and memory care center

Todd Fiscal Court on Friday morning approved the sale of a small parcel of land to the developer of a proposed senior living and memory care center in Elkton.

Magistrates approved Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield’s motion to sell approximately one-half acre of land near the Todd County Senior Center and City-County Park to Pro Land Realty at a cost of about $13,000.

County Attorney Jeff Traughber is also the Elkton city attorney and says Pro Land has a contract to buy just over three acres from the city and both agreements are contingent on the development getting state approval.

The $3.5 million facility would have 32 to 36 living spaces and the land purchased from the county would allow for ample parking space and additional access to Morris-Weather Street.

In other action, magistrates approved using approximately $163,000 from cashing in a certificate of deposit to pay off the debt on the women’s dormitory at the Todd County Jail.

Todd County Jailer Jeff Penick reported housing 108 state inmates and 26 county inmates, as of Friday morning.
