Trial was postponed Thursday morning in Christian Circuit Court for the two men accused of committing a robbery in October of 2019 at Car Outlet on Fort Campbell Boulevard.
Public defender Cody Hooks told Judge John Atkins that he can’t serve as the lawyer for 42-year old Charles Hollowell of Hopkinsville due to staffing issues at the office in Princeton. Due to his trial being postponed again due to no fault of his own, he asked Judge Atkins to modify Hollowell’s bond.
The judge did not make any ruling on bond, but said he’d issue an order for the Department of Public Advocacy to assign Hollowell an attorney. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling says he’ll have a plea offer for Hollowell and his new lawyer to go over.
Hopkinsville police allege Hollowell and 60-year old Tony Earl Jones of Hopkinsville forced their way into Car Outlet while wearing Halloween masks, assaulted an employee and fled with cash.
Jones’ case was also continued until next week and attorney Eric Bearden says he’ll in contact with the Commonwealth regarding a possible resolution. Both men are lodged in the Christian County Jail.
