With gas prices at or approaching all-time highs across the region, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office is among the agencies looking for ways to save fuel while also meeting its obligations to the community.
Sheriff Tyler DeArmond says his deputies are addressing calls for service by telephone when possible, but many calls still require a deputy to drive somewhere in Kentucky’s second-largest county.
The department will continue efforts to conserve fuel, but the sheriff says call volume dictates it’s impossible for deputies to just park their cruiser for any amount of time.
DeArmond says he will almost certainly need an amendment to the department’s budget to account for increased fuel costs.
