The 12th annual Hopkinsville International Festival is set for the weekend of March 25, and it will take place in a virtual format.
According to a news release, representatives of local international communities continue to pause from large crowd gatherings due to COVID, so festival organizers are using online platforms to bring rich cultural experiences to watchers. The International Festival live performances will be streamed on Facebook and replayed on Facebook as well on the Parks and Recreation Department’s YouTube channel. All of the performance recordings are saved and available for replay to supplement classroom studies in foreign language and social studies.
This year the performances will highlight Latin, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Indian and Brazilian song and dance. The Hopkinsville YMCA is also offering instruction of at-home craft projects with materials available for free pickup beforehand at the YMCA.
Friday night’s International Festival program will start at 5 p.m. and run till about 8:30 pm. On Saturday, things will start at 10:30 am and wrap up around 3 p.m.
