Senate could vote on budget soon

The 2022 session of the Kentucky General Assembly is more than halfway over and an executive budget could soon make its way to a conference committee.

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County believes the Appropriations and Revenue Committee could get the budget to the floor this week, possibly next.

Meanwhile, House Bill 6—which freezes taxable values of used vehicles at 2021 levels—has passed both chambers and is on the governor’s desk. Representative Myron Dossett notes that while Governor Andy Beshear issued an executive order doing the same, this means it’ll remain effective even if the order was somehow overturned.

Representative Walker Thomas says if you’ve already paid taxes on the inflated 2022 value, you’ll be getting a refund.

Lawmakers are scheduled to work another full five-day week.
