Ky. moving to weekly update as COVID continues downward trend

Kentucky will move to weekly updates concerning COVID-19, as the numbers continue to quickly move downward and they look towards the future of the pandemic.

During a conference Monday, Governor Andy Beshear says the positivity rate has dropped to 6.04 percent, the lowest it has been in months, and the new community spread state maps will allow people to make good judgement calls moving forward.

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says those maps give a better understanding of what COVID is doing in individual communities by monitoring new cases numbers and healthcare capacities.

He says Kentucky will begin giving weekly updates on COVID data, instead of daily like they had been doing—the Kentucky COVID website will update Monday afternoons.

Governo Beshear says there were less cases last week when compared to the week before, which has been a continuing trend for the past several weeks.
