Man charged with complicity to Boulevard murder

An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting from Wednesday night at Casey’s General Store on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Hopkinsville police charged 20-year old Christian McKeel of Hopkinsville with complicity to murder, with an arrest citation saying he admitted to assisting two juveniles execute a robbery of 19-year old Alijah Watts.

McKeel allegedly lured Watts to Casey’s and then Watts was shot while he was robbed by the two juveniles.

Watts was inside his vehicle at the time of the shooting and was able to drive away, but crashed into two vehicles and a home near East 21st and South Virginia Street. He was taken to Tennova Health Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say McKeel then assisted a juvenile in escaping the area.

McKeel had opportunities to exit the robbery plan before it was executed, but chose not to do so, according to the report.

HPD has also asked for the public’s help to locate 16-year old Joshua Cotton, who is sought for questioning in connection with the incident. Anyone knowing his whereabouts should call 270-890-1300.
