Local legislators support resolution ending COVID state of emergency

Local lawmakers support a resolution that would end Kentucky’s COVID-19 state of emergency, effective March 7.

It would end any executive orders, administrative statutes or other COVID-related directives that rely on the state of emergency declared by Governor Andy Beshear on March 6 of 2020 and it’s already passed the full Senate.

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County is confident the measure would not prevent Kentucky from receiving any additional federal pandemic aid dollars.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says it’s time to end any lingering COVID measures and he also supports a House bill that bans school systems from mandating masks.

The resolution is pending in the House and Representative Walker Thomas of Hopkinsville says he’ll support it.
