MORNING SPORTS BRIEFS 2/26/22

MLB

More spring training games were canceled Friday as talks for a new collective bargaining agreement continued. Day Five of the talks Friday had MLB commissioner Rob Manfred in attendance for the first time. Three more days of games were canceled with play in the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues now set to begin March 8th.

NBA

Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies return to action this evening at the Chicago Bulls. Tipoff is at 7 pm in the United Center.

NHL

The Nashville Predators welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first NHL Stadium Series game to be played at Nissan Stadium. First puck drops at 6:30.

Golf

Daniel Berger at 10 under par has a three shot lead on fellow American Chris Kirk and first round leader Kirk Kitayama at the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. Second round play was suspended yesterday due to darkness with play to finish this morning before the cut is made for the third round scheduled to be played today.

Miguel Angel Jimenez and Jeff Sluman at six under 66 share the lead going into today’s second round of the PGA Tour Champions Cologuard Classic in Tucson, AZ. Tom Lehman is among three golfers one shot back with six golfers two shots off the lead.
