Kentucky will receive $483 million settlement to help battle the opioid crisis

Kentucky will receive $483 million to help battle the opioid crisis.

It’s part of a $26 billion settlement finalized between Johnson & Johnson, three major drug distributors and nearly every state, according to Attorney General Daniel Cameron.=

The agreement resolves lawsuits that sought to hold the companies accountable for the opioid abuse crisis that led to hundreds of thousands of overdose deaths.

None of the settlement money will go directly to victims of opioid addiction or their survivors.  Instead, it will be used for abatement efforts such as treatment and prevention.
