Christian Fiscal Court during a special-called meeting Friday morning approved the purchase of a heat exchanger for the HVAC system that will be needed before the cooling season arrives.
Treasurer Walter Cummings says a recent routine check of the system at the courthouse on South Main Street shows it’s leaking refrigerant and there was a sense of urgency to get the part ordered due to the abnormally long time it’s expected to take to get here.
Cummings says supply chain issues are affecting the county in the same way as they’re impacting the general public.
The problem is different from the one that left the courthouse without air conditioning for several days last summer, as that was a problem with the compressor.
Magistrates approved a contract with West Mechanical of Island, Kentucky to purchase and install the part at a cost of about $54,000.
