Round two of rough weather this week arrives this evening and while wintry precipitation is the concern to our west, heavy rain is again the biggest issue facing the southern Pennyrile region.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from noon today until 6 p.m. Thursday for Calloway, Marshall and Crittenden and Livingston County and a Winter Storm Warning for Kentucky counties to the west of those, including Paducah. Those areas are expecting sleet and freezing rain for some period of time to cause travel issues before the precipitation likely changes over to plain rain.
Portions of Christian, Todd and Trigg counties are under a slight risk for excessive rainfall Thursday and that’s when Christine Wilegos with the National Weather Service in Paducah says there will be the greatest threat for flash flooding.
There’s currently no risk for severe weather in western Kentucky for this event.
There could be a reprieve from watching storms next week, as Wielgos says early forecasts are showing cooler and dryer than normal conditions.
