Two Todd County Central High School seniors have been awarded National Beta scholarships.
District officials say Emma Petrie has advanced to the National Beta scholarship semi-final round. Petrie has been placed among the top 100 of 252 recipients nationally as a National Beta Club semi-finalist. She is guaranteed to receive at least $1,000 from the National Beta Scholarship Program but has the potential to vie for one of the top 5 awards in phase 2 of the application process.
Meanwhile, following the review of over 2,900 applications, Abby Myers was also named as a recipient in the National Beta Scholarship Program. She will receive a $1000 scholarship award.
In order to be eligible for these scholarships, twelfth grade students must be members of the Senior Beta Club who are duly registered with National Beta Club headquarters. Winners are selected based on a number of factors, with an emphasis on academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, commendable character, school and community service, as well as participation in National Beta Club activities.
