COVID-19 cases and other incidences continue to rapidly decline in Kentucky, with Governor Andy Beshear hopeful that it shows not only an end to the recent surge, but maybe a calm spring and summer.
There were 3,464 new cases reported on Saturday, along with 32 deaths, Sunday saw 1,422 new cases and 29 deaths and then Monday saw the lowest number of new cases in two months—969 cases, along with 21 deaths. Aside from the number of deaths staying higher than anyone wants, Governor Beshear says the case numbers show a rapid decline that is reflected in a now 12.74 percent positivity rate.
He says people should feel good about the direction the Commonwealth is headed, as he thinks we will quickly head into the ‘yellow’.
In a somber update, Governor Beshear reported that the death toll from western Kentucky’s deadly and destructive December tornadoes is now at 80.
He reminds that the deadline to file for FEMA assistance in relation to those tornados was extended in March 11, and encouraged people to file even if you’re unsure that your damage would qualify you for assistance.
