College Football

The details of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh’s new contract extension are coming to light. ESPN is reporting that Harbaugh will receive a base salary of just over seven-million dollars this season and could make as much as 7.6 million in 2026. He agreed to a new five-year contract with an extension with Michigan on Wednesday.

MLB

Major League Baseball and the players association are still struggling to make progress as they work to end the league’s current lockout. ESPN reports the sides met again Thursday, but talks lasted just 15 minutes in a unproductive meeting. It’s the latest failure by the sides to agree on terms for a new collective bargaining agreement. The players are reportedly upset with the lack of movement by the MLB on the competitive balance tax and want more money in a pre-arbitration bonus pool. There are also several economic issues that have yet to be resolved.

NBA

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant heads to Cleveland today for the NBA All Star game that takes place Sunday night. It will be his first appearance in the mid-season game.

NHL

The Nashville Predators are back on the ice tonight at the Carolina Hurricanes. First puck drops at 6 pm Central.

Golf

Joaquin Niemann is the leader of the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational after one round at Riviera Country Club. The 23-year-old Chilean shot an eight-under to finish three strokes ahead of the field on Thursday. Ten other golfers shot four-under or better including Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas. Meanwhile, Wyndham Clark was disqualified after signing an incorrect scorecard following a six-over first round.
