A bill to help students impacted by tornadoes in Western Kentucky is headed to the state senate.
The Kentucky House passed HB 397 and it waives up to 15 days of school for the students affected by December’s tornadoes. Republican Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says it will ensure students and teachers won’t stay in school all summer.
He noted while school was not in session, many of those school employees were still working for their students.
The legislation now heads to the Senate for consideration.
