Tubby Smith steps down as High Point University coach

High Point head coach Tubby Smith announced today he’s stepping down immediately. Smith’s son GG-an assistant for his father-will take over the High Point program for the rest of this season and next season. After another bout with COVID-19, the 70-year-old Smith saw this as the right time to step away. Smith was honored by the University of Kentucky earlier this season with a jersey placed in the rafters of Rupp Arena for his service as basketball coach.
