The AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals announced today they have signed head coach Zac Taylor to a contract extension that will keep him with the Bengals through the 2026 season. The 38-year-old Taylor was entering the final year of his original four year contract. Taylor led the Bengals to Super Bowl 56 where they lost to the Los Angeles Rams Sunday.
Meanwhile, ESPN reports Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will not need surgery to repair a right knee injury he suffered in Super Bowl LVI. Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Burrow will simply need rest after he re-aggravated a sprained MCL in his right knee in the team’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Burrow stayed in the game, despite limping off the field in the second half of the 23-20 defeat.
The Minnesota Vikings have officially hired Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell as their new head coach. He is expected to be introduced tomorrow. As we reported Monday, Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s name could surface as the new OC for the Rams. He had been quarterbacks coach there before coming to UK last year.
