Dawson Springs man charged in Providence bank robbery

Kentucky State Police have charged a Dawson Springs man with first-degree robbery in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Planter’s Bank in Providence in April.

According to a news release, 28-year-old Matthew Lee Arthur of Dawson Springs was served with a warrant for first-degree robbery at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Lagrange, where he is serving time on separate charges.

As previously reported, Arthur is alleged to have entered the Planter’s Bank in Providence and demanded money while stating that he had a gun. He then left the property with an undisclosed amount of money.

The investigation continues.
