COVID-19 cases in Kentucky continue to fall, along with the positivity rate, as Governor Andy Beshear gave an update on the pandemic Monday afternoon.
There were 3,755 new cases reported Saturday, along with 48 deaths—Sunday added 2,270 cases and 36 deaths, and then Monday saw 1,907 new cases and 32 newly reported deaths. Governor Beshear says all the numbers related to COVID are trending down, which is just what they want to see, and he thinks the state will be maybe even the ‘yellow’ by mid-March. He says they’ll have new guidance around that time, but for now, they’re enjoying the good news.
The positivity rate is now at 17.93 percent, the lowest it has been in over a month, and Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack urged people to keep up those well-known health guidelines for just a little longer, to make sure we put the most recent surge behind us.
In a tornado recovery update, Governor Beshear says roughly 41 percent of all debris has been removed and more people are moving back to their communities.
He says approximately 30 families are now living in ‘medium-term’ housing, and he expects that number to increase soon as they deploy more travel-trailers to families in need.
