NWS continues to monitor the potential for flooding, wintry mix this week

Forecasters continue to monitor the potential for flooding and a winter storm in western Kentucky this week, though there are a lot of details still yet to be worked out about may happen.

One thing that’s for sure is that the area will see rain Tuesday and Wednesday—likely between one to two inches—with higher amounts in some locations possibly causing flash flooding in the usual places.

What’s not as certain is a potential changeover to freezing rain and sleet sometime late Thursday as a cold front sweeps through, which could cause travel impacts. Snow is also possible, but amounts would likely be very light.

The current forecast calls for the most significant impacts to be to the north and west of Hopkinsville, Elkton and Cadiz, but the storm system is still several days out.
