The Christian County High School Jazz Band will host a community performance as a send-off for the student musicians on Tuesday.
It will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre in downtown Hopkinsville. The Colonels were selected to attend the Kentucky Music Educators Association 2022 Conference at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville later this week.
A news release says the Colonel band is the only high school jazz band selected through a state-wide audition process to perform at the conference.
CCHS Director of Bands Anthony Darnall says, “The students have worked very hard for this opportunity and are looking forward to showcasing their talents to the community. They deserve a celebration for their hard work.”
The community performance will feature two guest soloists: Director of Jazz Studies at Murray State Dr. Todd Hill and Bethel University’s Director of Bands Dr. Derek Jones.
At Louisville’s conference, the jazz band will be joined by world-renowned trombone soloist, Harry Watters.
